Sleep Dentistry/Sedation Dentistry
Sedation dentistry exists for the purpose of relieving dental anxieties, fears and phobias; not re-living them.
At Dental Leaders, we feel that the dental profession is often insensitive to the concerns and needs of anxious patients, as well as special needs patients. The unspoken attitude among many dentists is that the patient should conform to their style, instead of treating them as individuals with concerns and needs.
Most people would never consider having a simple procedure such as an appendectomy without going to sleep, yet dentists expect their patients to sit in the chair for dental treatments and "just take it".
We understand that not everyone can bring themselves to be treated like that. A significant and worthy number of people feel that there must be a better way.
Aside from the reliable and gentle care that patients receive at Dental Leaders, we can provide services under "twilight sleep" sedation or general anesthesia. Utilizing these safe techniques, apprehensive or stressed patients need not consciously participate. Doctor Groh delivers an easy anesthetic, and dental treatment is done with little or no recollection or sensation for the patient. Usually an entire, complex plan of treatment can be accomplished in only one or two visits!
Sedation modalities include nitrous oxide gas, oral sedative medications, intravenous sedation, and intravenous general anesthesia.
Individuals who think that "sleep dentistry" may be the right treatment modality for them or their loved one should contact Dental Leaders for more information.
